IBS is a common gastrointestinal disorder. 

IBS is not life-threatening but it causes bothersome, embarrassing and debilitating symptoms:

A: abdominal pain

B: bloating

C: constipation

D: diarrhea

IBS affects how contents move through the intestines, and how the brain interprets sensations that occur along the digestive tract.
