Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

GERD Awareness Week is the week of Thanksgiving (November 20-26).

As we start the holiday season, some reflux from overindulging may happen.  When the reflux symptoms start to occur on a regular basis, this may indicate GERD.

GERD is a chronic condition where stomach acid refluxes back into the esophagus and causes damage.

GERD affects 1 in 5 adults in the Unites States but it also occurs in children.
